Conceived with the marching orders to make it a WOW! building, the Rochelle Gateway Center is aptly named, beginning with its role as a singular, dramatic sentinel. Admissions provide the new student's invitation and introduction to the University. The Career Center shepherds the graduate's transition to a life of productive service. The Alumni Association hails the homecoming of each graduate as a proud member of their community and profession...and hopefully have their own young 'Pokes in tow! The UW Foundation, meanwhile, works to secure and manage resources to maximize the impact of gifts on the success of students, faculty and the entire University of Wyoming community.
What makes up the parts of the Gateway? A three-story, cantilevering block of office space combines with ballrooms, meeting and conference spaces, a full cook and serve kitchen, specialty suites for private, high-level meetings, interview rooms for remote and on-site career interviews and much more. All these functions are arranged among a crossroads of soaring atrium spaces with, finally, the oval-shaped UW Legacy Hall showcasing all that was, is and will be the University of Wyoming. The brilliant exhibition of Cowboy Culture found throughout the Gateway Center is touchingly punctuated by the powerful sculpture of Steamboat and his Rider, out front in the South Plaza.
Truly one-of-a-kind in the nation, this is the design that coined the term "UWyoWOW!"
